Presenter FAQs

Who can participate?

Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to participate by making a poster, slideshow, or other presentation about their research projects, artwork, internships or other experiential learning that they wish to share. All student award recipients of the Student Research & Creative Activity Grant Program are required to participate in a SRCA Showcase. Students can participate individually or in groups under the guidance of a faculty or staff advisor.

How does it work?

With input from your faculty or staff advisor, write an abstract (summary) about your project and submit your presentation information and abstract via the SRCA Showcase Sign Up Form by March 11.

Decide how you want to present your project – in person, virtually, or both – and sign up on the form for at least one presentation slot. Students can choose to present both in-person and virtually.

In-person Sessions: Thurs. April 14, 1-3 pm & Fri. April 15, 11 am-1 pm
Virtual Sessions: Thurs. April 14, 4-5 pm & Fri. April 15, 9-10am

  • In-person presenters will stand next to their posters/displays in the Morris Conference Center during the scheduled sessions as visitors walk by and ask questions. Note: The Grants Development Office will cover the cost of printing posters for students who choose to present in person if your final poster file is submitted by the Monday, March 28 deadline to diana.moseman@oneonta.edu (see instructions here). Note: posters must be no larger than 42"x36" maximum size. If your display requires a computer or you have other presentation needs, you will be able to request these in the SRCA Showcase Sign Up Form.
  • Virtual presenters will join an online “room” for one-hour sessions with other student presenters and a moderator and will discuss their projects together and with online visitors. The Acadiate platform will host the virtual presentations. All projects, whether presenting in-person or virtually should be uploaded to the Acadiate platform. Link here for information and instructions on uploading presentations to the platform.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON CREATING A SRCA PRESENTATION

Guidance on how to create a PDF poster is available here. Samples of SUNY Oneonta SRCA abstracts are available on the SRCA website (links to Past SRCA Programs). The Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL) is also a good resource for writing research abstracts and preparing posters.

Virtual presentation sessions will be hosted by Acadiate via a virtual platform. All presentations must, in whole or in part, take the form of a PDF poster developed from a PowerPoint slide(s) to be uploaded through the Acadiate site. Presentations can also be ‘accessorized’ with supplemental materials and links such as additional documents, PPT slides, Sway presentations, videos, YouTube links of presentations or performances, other third party apps, etc. Link here for information and instructions on uploading presentations to the platform. Link here for an instructional video from the 2021 SRCA Showcase.

Note: All presenters (including in-person) will be asked to upload their posters, slideshows and/or other presentation options to the Acadiate virtual presentation platform where they will be available for online viewing during and after the SRCA Showcase event.

Make Your Poster ADA Accessible. SUNY Oneonta posters displayed online must be ADA compliant or accessible. When your poster is available to people who use assistive technology, even more people will be able to read your research or creative work. Learning how to make your work accessible is an important part of training to become a scholar and researcher. You can make your posters accessible by following some easy steps as found in this PDF, Make an Online PowerPoint Poster Accessible.
