Did you know that you can do the following by going to our ServiceNow Self-Service Portal at https://oneonta.service-now.com/sp?

  • You can search our Knowledge Base for information and how-to's for many of the services and software that Information Technology Services offer.
  • If something is broken and not working right you can Report an Incident to us.
  • If you need access to something or have a question for us, you can check out our Service Catalog and Submit a Request to us.
  • You can also check on the status of any of your open Incidents and Requests in the View Status page.

Microsoft Access currently does not support the Mac OS X Operating System. Students who need to use Microsoft Access can access the program in our Remote Lab and Windows Virtual Desktop Environments.

Student Resources

Information Technology Services has a limited number of laptops that are available to be loaned out to students who are in need of a device. To apply for a student laptop loan please visit our Student Laptop Loan Request form.

IT Services has deployed a subset of apps into the cloud with Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD). WVD is a desktop computer service running in the Microsoft cloud running Windows 10. SUNY Oneonta has 75 licenses that can be provided to students who need to use the Adobe Creative Cloud for distance learning. These licenses are available to students who need to use the Adobe Creative Cloud to complete coursework or to fulfill their duties with on-campus student employment. Due to the limited availability of these licenses, please check out our Free Alternatives For Adobe Creative Cloud Applications Knowledge Base Article for a list of free programs that have similar functionality to the Adobe Creative Cloud.

If the alternative programs don't offer the capacity that you need, you can use our Student Adobe Creative Could Remote Access Request Form to request access to the Adobe Creative Cloud. In this request we will need to know what course you are currently in, or what department you are currently employed in which requires use of the Adobe Creative Cloud.

AutoDesk offers free educational licenses for AutoCAD, Maya, and many of their products to students.

A New Student Focused Website

A website has been put together by the SUNY Online team that includes: Resources for Success in Your Online Course; Resources for Active Military and Veteran Students; Mental Health, Nutrition, and Technology Resources; as well as links to the Support Guides for Working with Blackboard, BrightSpace, Canvas, and Moodle.

SUNY Online Helpdesk Open

The SUNY Online Helpdesk is available to assist students on our campus with technical support for Blackboard, including how to access their courses using online tools/technology. Staff are available through the SUNY Online Help Desk for the following hours:

Monday – Friday: 7:00am-midnight EST
Saturday: 10:00am-8:00pm EST
Sunday: 10:00am-9:00pm EST

We also provide a Student Orientation to Blackboard. All current Oneonta students have been enrolled in this self-paced course. Microsoft Office Lens is a way to scan documents using your cell phone’s camera. This app which is available for both android and apple devices allows you to scan the document and upload it directly to a folder in your OneDrive. It will also give you options to save to your device or share with another app on your phone. Download more information about Microsoft Office Lens.

Your SUNY Oneonta Office 365 Account allows you to install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus on up to 5 personal devices. Instructions on how to install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus on your personal devices.

Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus will install the following programs on your computer:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft OneNote
  • Microsoft Access (Windows Only)

  • A computer, laptop or tablet
  • (optional) Webcam or Microphone

We may be able to supply a laptop, but we cannot provide internet access. If equipment is needed, please contact ITS; employees should not purchase these items in expectation of reimbursement.

A variety of circumstances might require you to be flexible regarding the delivery of course content. Please visit the TLTC's Flexibility in Teaching Modalities for more information.

  • If you need to access applications that can only be used on-campus, such as mapped drives or Banner, you will need to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client software.
  • In response to the decision to move classroom instruction to other modalities such as online delivery, SUNY Oneonta is temporarily waiving the requirement for each employee to have a signed university VPN Policy before access is granted. Department heads at SUNY Oneonta can request VPN access for staff in their department by submitting a Request at https://oneonta.service-now.com/sp. This request should include a list of specific employees in your department that you are requesting VPN access for. Employees on this list will be granted access and a response will be sent with information on how to install and configure the VPN client software.
