After two decades of music, camaraderie and a dash of chaos, SUNY Oneonta has bid farewell to “The Mothers of Intention,” a Frank Zappa-inspired performance class that became one of the most popular, longest running music ensemble classes in the university’s history, challenging and inspiring more than 60 alumni musicians.

Approximately 5 tons of gently used items donated by SUNY Oneonta students were saved from the waste stream and given new life this week, thanks to the annual Move-Out Donation and Reuse Collection program, a partnership with The Arc Otsego.

Family, friends, faculty and staff celebrated SUNY Oneonta’s Class of 2024 during Spring Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 18. Visitors gathered inside the Alumni Field House to recognize the 1,250 students expected to complete their requirements for graduation this semester.

Thirty-eight SUNY Oneonta student volunteers and Sport and Exercise Sciences faculty partnered with EDD Adaptive Sports to host two adaptive sports events on campus this spring.

The State University of New York Board of Trustees has increased SUNY Oneonta’s funding by 12.7 percent ($1.8 million) from 2024 as part of the FY 2025 Enacted New York State budget.
