College in High School

SUNY Oneonta's College in High School partnerships are an affordable, convenient way for high school students to get a head start on college!

We offer a variety of college-level courses through partnerships with more than 30 school districts across New York State, with new partnerships in development all the time. We also provide pre-engineering and healthcare professions courses through the Otsego Northern Catskill BOCES New Visions programs.

Courses can be taught by high school teachers right in their high schools, or through distance learning. SUNY Oneonta faculty members provide academic support, and our Office of Continuing Education provides organizational assistance.

The cost of $150 for a three-credit course and $200 for a four-credit course is significantly lower than the cost of taking a course at most public and private schools, making this a very affordable way for students to challenge themselves, while earning credits before even beginning college. SUNY Oneonta’s high school partnerships allow and encourage students to explore academic interests and develop the skills to be successful in college and life.

Partnership Schools and Courses

All of the courses offered in the high schools through our partnership programs are reviewed and approved by SUNY Oneonta faculty. We are continually growing our partnerships, so if you are a school counselor or instructor and do not see your school listed but would like to partner with SUNY Oneonta, please contact us. If you are a high school student and do not see your school listed, please either check with your high school guidance counselor to confirm course offerings, or contact SUNY Oneonta College in High School Coordinator Rebecca Lynch at 607-436-2548.

How to Apply

If you are a high school rising senior interested in taking a College in High School partnership course for SUNY Oneonta credit, let your guidance counselor know, so they can assist you in making sure that the course(s) will fit into your schedule and that you have the appropriate academic preparation. Applications and registration forms are distributed through our approved partner high school instructors. Payment for course(s) is due at the time of application. Please check with the high school instructor to verify how payments must be made. Payments can only be accepted and credit earned during the registration dates listed on the course registration form.

All College in High School partnership students are expected to adhere to the educational regulations and policies set forth by SUNY Oneonta and comply with our Code of Student Conduct. This information is shared during the application process and you (and a parent or guardian if you are under the age of 18) are required to confirm that you have read it and will uphold it.

Acquiring Transcripts

Grades earned upon completion of College in High School course(s) are used in the calculation of the student’s GPA at SUNY Oneonta and will appear on the student’s transcript.

Once College in High School course(s) have been completed, an official transcript may be obtained or sent to another institution by making an official request.

Fees

$150.00 per 3 credit course (includes transcript fee)
$200.00 per 4 credit course (includes transcript fee)

A reduced program fee or fee waiver may be considered and applied for those students who are eligible or who participate in the Federal Reduced/Free Lunch Program. To receive the reduced or waived course fee(s) students must provide SUNY Oneonta with official proof of participation from their school district.

Students will not be registered in course(s) without full payment of course fee(s) or official proof of fee reduction or waiver forms.

Program fee(s) are non-refundable, unless you drop or withdraw before the deadline indicated on your course registration form.

SUNY Oneonta College in High School Partnership program students are charged a nominal program fee. The program fee does not support qualified educational expenses for tax purposes therefore, no 1098-T (Tuition Statement) form will be generated.
