The Office of Institutional Research encourages and supports growth across the institution by assisting all university units in the development and implementation of high-quality assessment plans and methodologies and in using information gained through assessment and institutional research to enhance programs and services.
While fully acknowledging the role of assessment in demonstrating an institution is sufficiently accountable to its stakeholders, the Office of Institutional Research emphasizes assessment as a mechanism for enhancing student learning and services, curricular programs, pedagogy, and the campus community overall. This strategy reflects a fundamental assumption that “assessment for improvement” leads directly and inevitably to “assessment for accountability.” The office also provides quality information and analysis services to support planning, assessment, and decision-making at all organizational levels, and also assures SUNY Oneonta's compliance with reporting requirements for external agencies and organizations.
Mission Statement
SUNY Oneonta’s Office of Institutional Research encourages and supports continuous improvement throughout the institution by assisting all university units in the development and implementation of high-quality assessment plans, effective practices, and decision support services to enhance programs and services. The Office strives to be a source of concept leadership and assistance in developing and overseeing institutional processes for planning, assessment, and evaluation, and using outcomes from these processes for institutional renewal and fulfilling SUNY Oneonta’s mission and strategic plan.
The Office of Institutional Research embraces assessment for improvement of student learning and services, curricular programs, pedagogy, and the campus community for purposes of accountability to stakeholders.
